Team work makes the dream work for Kayla Gulizia
If there’s anything Kayla appreciates more than being part of a team that always collaborates, it’s meeting new people who want to talk about how learning impacts students’ lives. That, and playing with her 125 lb puppy.
What is your favorite part about being a member of the Labster team?
The people that I work with have helped me grow personally and professionally so much that they have practically become my family. Several team members were at my wedding, for example!
We lift each other up even when things are hard, even when things are uncertain. We do more than just collaborate for work, we actually care about each other and each other’s successes. We hire some pretty amazing people and as our team grows, we’re going to see that more.
And if I’m struggling, I don’t ever fear going to my colleagues and asking them, ‘what would you do differently?’ I know everyone’s going to come to the table with a thoughtful response and will genuinely care about helping me to be my best self. Everyone in my team has their own superpower, everyone has something special they’re good at. That makes us a well-rounded team.
What is your superpower?
我认为这是ability to laugh and have fun in most conversations, even if they’re tough. Changing the subject for 5 minutes and coaxing people out of their shells does a lot to build the rapport.
How do you like to conduct your sales demos?
I like to have fun in my sales demos. I like to start off with an introduction. Everyone is in a different place, especially now. Understanding the teacher you’re speaking with, what they have on their plate, and the reality of the situation at their school is really important. It helps us make the most out of our time together. Establishing that early on and just having fun and conversing with each other is what’s really important.

What do you like to do in your free time?
我有一个更大的Swiss Mountain Dog, a puppy named Lulu. Well, I guess she’s still a puppy – she’s like 125 pounds! Actually, right now she’s curled up and looks like a donut on a chair. She’s so cute. My favorite thing to do in my free time is to play with her, take her on walks. She’s got such a big personality. Lulu is a show dog. She actually does pretty well, she’s even won some ribbons!
