From medtech to edtech - Patrick's journey
Easily connecting with people, whether it’s through music or his sales demos, Patrick is motivated to help improve the education for the scientists of the future.
What makes you want to work for Labster?
Prior to Labster, I worked in the medtech sector, so I have always been driven by helping those in need. The global pandemic has highlighted the need for schools to have better online resources, and Labster is leading this Renaissance in education.I love selling disruptive technologies, especially when they have the potential to improve the lives of students and revolutionise science education. And, my colleagues are from every corner of the world, which has allowed me to learn about many amazing cultures.
What's one important insight you share with educators?
Students are very different today than they were even ten years ago. They are conditioned to look at screens and engage with virtual content. This is part of the reason why Labster has been shown to be so great for improving student engagement, students feel like they are playing a high-tech video game, but they are learning science at the same time.
“Some scientific concepts are so difficult to comprehend, but Labster’s amazing 3D animations visualise these at a cellular level.” – Patrick Hynes-Foy
What do you enjoy most about talking with instructors?
Every customer is different, so I love listening to what challenges they have been facing with teaching their students and discovering how Labster may be able to help them.
What do you like to share about your own culture?
Ireland has amazing music and sports. As well as playing and singing at the Irish music sessions, I also play Gaelic football and hurling, our two national sports, for our local club Copenhagen GAA.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Probably to fly so that I wouldn’t have to quarantine when visiting new countries!
What do you like to do in your free time?
My biggest passion is playing the guitar and singing. I have always loved music, and I play in Irish music sessions here in Copenhagen.
